White Mountain

So here’s another post in my once in a blue moon book review series!!

WHITE MOUNTAIN

By Sophie E Tallis

A dying culture hidden from our own. An ancient people conquered by human progress. A ruthless changeling bent on revenge and power…and a wizard and dragon determined to stop him.

Amongst our modern world, lies another. An archaic and hidden world of tradition, sorcery and magic. Lost, long before the last Ice Age and barely surviving beneath the onslaught of human advance, it now faces its greatest challenge and its bitterest enemy.

As dark demons awaken from our past, the last remaining wizards are being hunted and murdered by a changeling of terrifying strength.

Attacked and drained of most of his powers, a dying sorcerer must race against time to save himself and the fate of all, from an enemy intent on cleansing the planet and destroying humanity…

I have to say I really really loved this book, not just because it has a wonderful brave dragon in it and some amazing illustrations, but also because the story is gripping and exciting.

The story follows two friends Mr Agyk a wise old wizard and Gralen a large portly green dragon. They receive a message from a wizard friend of Mr. Agyk who appears to be in trouble and set out to help him. This is the start of an adventure that tests them to the limit and takes them to many far off corners of the world.

The descriptions paint vivid pictures, which draw you into the story and the story line keeps you wanting to read more and more. I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next instalment. I would recommend White Mountain to anyone, a truly wonderful story, and so I give it five gold dragons!!!

Wicked Game

Wicked Game is coming on well at the moment, I’ve always had the last few chapters almost fully formed in my head so it’s just a case of writing them down!! Then of course there’s all the editing, rewriting etc. but I’m actually looking forward to that bit.

So I have started thinking about what I’m going to put on the back of the book and here’s my first draft of the back cover synopsis:

From the inside of the open locket, a pair of blue eyes gazed out from the face of a young girl. She had an amused expression and long, wavy brown hair. A fierce ache clawed at Damian’s chest as he looked upon this face, the face of Samantha White. He tore his eyes away and gently snapped the locket shut, closing his fingers around it and pressing his fist against his heart.
“Please come back to me Sam,” the words formed silently on his lips, “I can not exist without you.”

She had everything anyone could ever want, a home, a future, a large, loving family and Damian.

But Sam walked away and now she can’t go back…

Any thoughts would be appreciated! 🙂

Kobo and other news

Well I’ve just realised how long it’s been since I last updated my poor neglected blog!! You see I’ve been busy writing like crazy trying to get my work-in-progress, Wicked Game, finished. Due to such feverish writing other parts of my life seem to have ground to a holt.

Even so I have managed to get some other things done, the most impressive of which (to me anyway!) has been to finally publish Vortex as an epub book onKobo!! So if you have a Kobo reader or an epub reader on your computer/tablet/phone etc. you can now download a copy at last! I have also published Vortex on The Best Indie Book Store and it’s being displayed on their home page at the moment!! I’m rolling my sleeves up now and preparing to visit Smashwords to see if I can manage to get it on there too! I am actually scaring myself with my grasp on technology, I’m sure I’ve probably done something wrong and it’ll all go haywire very shortly!! But in the meantime I’m sat here feeling quite smug with myself 🙂

In other news, I’m hoping to go to The London Book Fair in April, I’ve never been before, but it does look quite exciting,  it covers two floors of Earls Court and all the big names in the publishing industry will be there. I’m sure I’m going to find loads of useful information and advice.

And finally, we’re showing Skyfall at our village cinema next week! 🙂 Yes I have already seen it! and Yes I will be watching it again!! I do have two large Skyfall posters of Daniel Craig which may go missing before I have to put them on the sandwich board outside the village hall and end up on my wall instead!!! 😀
