Massive Thank You!!

Yesterday I posted about what a wonderful time I had in Las Vagas at the RNConvention. Well today I want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone involved in organising the event. It was fabulous, but only because of the people who worked tirelessly to pull it all together and make sure we all had a great time.

So to Jimmy Thomas, Shannon, Jimmy’s mum TJ Mackay, all the wonderful people at InD’tale Magazine, all the volunteers and everyone else who gave up their time and energy to give us all a fantastic week, I would like to express all my gratitude and thanks, you are all absolutely amazing!! I had the most incredible time and I’m definitely looking forward to next year!!

I vent to attend the first ever Romance Novel Convention and yes it was worth it! The hotel was lovely, the people super friendly and the convention itself was soooo much fun! I attended lots of classes and talks on promoting, and marketing, an area I’m not to good at! There were shows, parties and even a costume ball! I went as a dragon!

I met loads of new friends and a couple of long term friends who I hadn’t actually met in person before!!

Richard is a member of the wonderful writing group I am privileged to be a member of The Alliance of World Builders, and I’ve known him for around two and a half years now. He and his lovely wife Susan came to attend the book fair on the Saturday and to meet me!

One of the big highlights of the convention was the costume ball. I had never been to a real costume ball before and boy were there some fabulous costumes!! The room had been decorated beautifully too, and standing at one end was an enormous open book. It stood taller than me and was propped open. Inside a scene had been crafted on the right hand page with such intricate detail, it was incredible. Check out the convention’s FB page for everyone’s photos of the convention, there are some really great and interesting pictures.

I had booked a table at the book fair and set out all my swag and a pile of crisp new copies of Vortex to sell. I haven’t sold direct to the public before, like this so I was a little nervous. I shouldn’t have worried because everyone was really kind and showed a lot of interest in my book.

I actually sold over half my pile of paperbacks and gave away loads of copies of the QR code to both Vortex and Wicked Game so all those who read ebooks can upload them easily.

On Sunday I went on a tour of The Strip with Richard and Susan and checked out all those amazing hotels! We spent hours walking around Ceasar’s Palace, it is mind blowing inside, and watched the dancing fountains outside The Bellagio. It would take weeks to see all the sights and we only had one day so I’m looking forward to visiting again, maybe for next years convention 😉

The RONE Awards 2012

I’m very excited at the moment! Vortex has been nominated for an award!!!! AND it’s a very big one too!! It’s The RONE Awards 2012 . They are being run by Ind’tale Magazine in connection with the Romance Novel Centre and the winners will be announced at the RNConvention in Las Vagas in August!!! So saying I’m very excited is really a massive understatement!

In order to be nominated for this award you have to have received a four star or higher review in Ind’tale’s on-line magazine. (Vortex got a glowing five star review in the magazine!!) and then you are put through to the second round which involves a public vote. The voting has been split up into sections over six weeks and Vortex is in the Paranormal section in week 4. Week 4 Started yesterday Friday 10th May and runs through till Thursday 17th May.

I would be thrilled and very grateful if you would consider voting for Vortex and I! If you don’t want to register on the site there is an option to send in a PDF ballot form with your vote on it. (the link is on the page). Both ways to vote can be found here.

This is a very prestigious award and I feel very honoured to have got this far and to be included in the nominations! If you haven’t visited Ind’tale magazine before I strongly recommend you take a look as it’s a great magazine full of useful and interesting articles and lots of great indie book reviews too. The same goes for the Romance Novel Centre especially if your looking for a stand out cover for your next book!
