Tania Elizabeth – Guest Post

I was recently contacted by Tania Elizabeth author of The Tier of Eternal Grace. Tania is doing a blog hop in aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation a charity which supports terminally ill children and their families. There is nothing worse than watching your child suffer, I can’t imagine the heartache involved. So when Tania asked me if she could do a guest post I was more than pleased to help.

Hi J My name is Tania Elizabeth and besides being a mum of three beautiful children, I am the author of the trilogy The Tier of Eternal Grace. Book One The Moon Clearing was released earlier this year. Book Two The Mirrors Shadow will be released late September and Book Three will then follow in the early part of 2014.

The Tier of Eternal Grace is a captivating fantasy of magic and passion, wound into the truths of reality that will enchant readers with its depiction of the faerie realm, and the exploits of the faeries themselves. Book One of the series ‘The Moon Clearing’ is an immersive tale of mysticism and adventure, of spiritual and sensual intent that shall enrapture your every sense.

SUMMARY

I am a divine being of divine beauty and power.

My power lies in love, my strength I’ve gained from grace

I am grounded in thy truths and live purely of heart.

I’ve a gratitude for all life’s glory; never shall I be misplaced.

Though it comes to pass that I am rivaled

By the name of another and that of my own uncertainties,

dare I be denied my truths, my mind’s clear

By the name of another, I am now in jeopardy.

Beyond the boundary that separates the mundane and earthly planes from the divine lies Eterna Fadas, a place ruled by extraordinary beings, lithe and human-like in appearance, yet ethereal in their grace and beauty, and sensuous in nature.

“I have existed always! Where I began I do not know, for all I know is just as I am today!”

As Queen, Tatiana was thought to have lived a life of opulence, her faith and beliefs her endearing essence. Why then was it so, that beneath the picture of perfection laid torments and terrors even she dare not explain. Being She came with its prices paid. Being She came with a deal; a contract in which she was to relinquish herself to a rogue of unmerciful fury. Would this be the end of all she know? Would this be the end of her existence?

Like each and every one of us, my own journey has been one of trials and tribulations, of Love and of passions; and the dissolutions of it. Heartache, sorrows, smiles and laughter always seeming. Though, through the writing of this book and the words of Tatiana, I have found a peace within and learnt the true meaning of “I LOVE ME!”

From myself, may I now ask for your help!

STARLIGHT AUTHOR’S AID

I am asking for all’s assistance.

To give to others is to give to oneself.

Help us to raise awareness and funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports terminally ill children and their families.

There are two ways in which people can help.
It is very simple.

By simply hosting, reviewing or interviewing myself/my book via a blog post, amazon, newspaper, radio, TV within a 21day window frame, between the dates of Friday 12th of April and Friday the 3rd of May. For every appearance, I will be donating $1 to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

If any of you could help, I would be so grateful. If you could connect me with anyone else who would be happy to interview, do a short post or review on myself/my book, I would be ever so grateful more.

I am also asking for donations, even $1, which you may do direct via this link.

We are looking at making this an annual event. This year it is based upon myself, though every year after, we will base it upon another upcoming author.
So please share and pass this along to all. Let’s make this a huge affair and raise much needed funds for a very worthy cause.

My heartfelt thanks to all.

Love, Blessings and Faerie Kisses always

Kobo and other news

Well I’ve just realised how long it’s been since I last updated my poor neglected blog!! You see I’ve been busy writing like crazy trying to get my work-in-progress, Wicked Game, finished. Due to such feverish writing other parts of my life seem to have ground to a holt.

Even so I have managed to get some other things done, the most impressive of which (to me anyway!) has been to finally publish Vortex as an epub book onKobo!! So if you have a Kobo reader or an epub reader on your computer/tablet/phone etc. you can now download a copy at last! I have also published Vortex on The Best Indie Book Store and it’s being displayed on their home page at the moment!! I’m rolling my sleeves up now and preparing to visit Smashwords to see if I can manage to get it on there too! I am actually scaring myself with my grasp on technology, I’m sure I’ve probably done something wrong and it’ll all go haywire very shortly!! But in the meantime I’m sat here feeling quite smug with myself 🙂

In other news, I’m hoping to go to The London Book Fair in April, I’ve never been before, but it does look quite exciting,  it covers two floors of Earls Court and all the big names in the publishing industry will be there. I’m sure I’m going to find loads of useful information and advice.

And finally, we’re showing Skyfall at our village cinema next week! 🙂 Yes I have already seen it! and Yes I will be watching it again!! I do have two large Skyfall posters of Daniel Craig which may go missing before I have to put them on the sandwich board outside the village hall and end up on my wall instead!!! 😀

For all fans of speculative fiction!

I was really thrilled to have Vortex included in this fabulous collection of books featured on Kate Jack’s wonderful bolg!! If you haven’t visited Kate’s blog you’re missing out! Go take a look. 😀

Delighting in Dragons

I was very honoured recently when wonderful author and fellow AWB member AFE Smith asked me to write a guest post for her lovely blog Reflections of Reality. In return she has written me a wonderful post on one of my most favourite subjects DRAGONS!! So let me hand you over to AFE.

Welcome one and all to my first ever guest post, and many, many thanks to Lindsey for letting me loose on her blog! I’ll do my best not to wreck the place (let’s hope the phantom tentacles didn’t follow me here).

When Lindsey suggested that I write about dragons for this post, I did a happy little dance. Because, like many (most?) fantasy fans, I Heart Dragons. I have dragon jewellery. I once painted a full-length dragon on my bedroom wall. If I ever get a tattoo, you can bet it will be dragon-shaped.

So what’s so great about dragons?

The short answer to that is, of course, everything. If you were to consult the Official List of Awesome Fantasy Characteristics, dragons would have pretty much the lot. Sardonic intelligence? Check. Power of flight? Check. Vast hoard of bling? Check. Ability to incinerate enemies, treasure-hunters and anyone who has the temerity to be the slightest bit annoying? You got it.

Of course, dragons vary from author to author and world to world. Some are malevolent, some benign. Some can communicate with humans, some can’t (or choose not to). Yet they all share that same fundamental dragonness: the sheer badassery that comes from being a great big fire-breathing flying lizard.

I first fell in love with dragons whilst reading Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series for the first time. Her dragons work side by side with humans to protect their world against the ravages of Thread. Each dragon has a unique and personal bond with a single human that lasts for life, formed in a process known as Impression. Yep, that’s right: the dragonriders of Pern have special best friends/confidantes who just happen to be dragons. I mean, who wouldn’t want that? It’s like Han Solo and Chewbacca, if Chewie could breathe fire and fly.

On the other hand, not all dragons would be so delightful to live with. Many are amoral, selfish, cruel and completely unconcerned with the fates of humans. The dragons in Harry Potter are ultimately wild animals, spectacular but dangerous. Robin Hobb’s dragons consider humans to be nothing more than second-rate servants (a view that’s not uncommon among dragonkind). And The Hobbit’s Smaug certainly isn’t the kind of neighbour you’d invite round for tea and cookies.

Still, that’s part of the fascination of dragons. They may be friendly or mean, on our side or not, but they’re never safe. And maybe that’s why we love them so much – between the covers of books. As Ged observes in A Wizard of Earthsea (which contains some particularly excellent dragons), ‘it is one thing to read about dragons and another to meet them’.

A.F.E. Smith is currently working on several fantasy novels, none of which contain dragons. She is coming to the conclusion that this may be a mistake.

Thank you  to AFE for such a great post and for hosting me too! If you haven’t visited her blog then you are missing out big time! So I should get over there right away if I was you, just click here!
